Nutrition counseling —making weight loss resolutions stick

Have you made that same New Year’s resolutions to lose weight time and time again? Did you experience successful results or did you fall off the wagon come February? If you veered from any diets or programs for weight management that you tried to follow, don’t worry. 2013 is a new year and we’ve got some nutrition counseling tips to share that can make the entire process go much more smoothly.

Set realistic goals. Your weight gain didn’t happen overnight, and neither will long lasting results. Create a strategy that includes a safe, realistic timeline for accomplishing your weight loss goals. Results take time and effort, so you’ll most likely need to overhaul your entire lifestyle. Set firm but realistic deadlines for adopting healthier habits and meal plans.

Write it down. Write down your goals to cement your commitment to the process. Put down exactly what you expect from whatever diets or programs for weight management you choose to follow and how you plan to improve your health and fitness.

Establish timeframes. Set safe, specific goals instead of more generic ones. For example, instead of saying, “I want to lose weight,” or “I want to lose 30 pounds,” go further—decide that you will “lose 10 pounds by February,” or “I want to go down one dress size this month.” This makes you accountable for sticking to your programs and will help you discipline yourself.

Get support. Losing weight and transforming your lifestyle can be a difficult task, but it’s an essential one to your health, and one that will yield important, life changing results. Get whatever support you need to make this as easy and painless a process as possible. Whether that means pairing up with someone to workout with or getting to the bottom of your eating habits through nutrition counseling, give yourself whatever tools and help you need to have success.

I couldn't be happier! The staff is awesome... though I only have seen the doctor twice, I'm ok because the team is great! The only issue for me really is...
