Quinoa—A protein source that’s healthy for life

Pronounced “keen-wah,” this superfood is often referred to as a grain. However, it is actually a seed that is related to the spinach, beet and Swiss chard families. More importantly, it’s a complete source of protein, meaning it contains all of the nine essential acids that our bodies need to build muscle. It’s truly a perfect food for those trying to improve their health through better nutrition.

Quinoa is an excellent choice as a protein source for vegetarians, as well as individuals with weight loss and weight management goals. It’s a gluten-free, low-calorie food, and is also considered a complex carbohydrate with a low glycemic index. This means that it won’t cause your blood sugar to spike.
